On 29 November 2024, the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) launched the second batch of the YoungElaeis Ambassador Program during the CPOPC dinner reception, held in conjunction with the 12th Ministerial Meeting (MM) and the 28th Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) of CPOPC in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event was attended by distinguished delegates, including the SOM leaders from Indonesia and Malaysia as well as Ambassador or Embassy representative from various countries.

The YoungElaeis Ambassador Program, an initiative by CPOPC, symbolizes the commitment of CPOPC to enable the younger generation to embrace the agricultural sector in particular the oil palm sector. This program is a pivotal initiative of CPOPC aimed at empowering the young leaders by providing them with science-based data and information to support their creativity in effective communication and positive campaigns through their social media platforms.

CPOPC aims to invite youths from more than 20 countries across continents covering Asia, Oceania, Africa, Americas and Europe, to become part of the family of the YoungElaeis Ambassador and contribute to the balanced conversation of sustainable palm oil.

There are four categories namely Smallholders and Social Impacts, Reuse and Recycle, Health and Nutrition, and Climate Action which will be the focus of the program. These categories are selected key themes being debated globally involving the oil palm industry. These themes are anticipated to support the efforts in addressing global issues especially by the younger generation.

Youths, aged between 17 to 30 years old, who are interested to be involved, will be participating in various engagements and activities in accordance with a set timeline to provide them with relevant information and knowledge for them to embark on the journey to become a candidate of the program.

The program will help to ensure the continued growth and positive transformation of the oil palm industry by countering misinformation and negative allegations through the engaging and readily accessible social media platforms. In this context, it is expected that through their strengths and efforts, the YoungElaeis Ambassadors will make a lasting positive impact beyond the oil palm sector.

As the ambassadors take on the leadership roles, they will not only enhance the global reputation of palm oil but also contribute to addressing key challenges such as climate change, social equity, and environmental stewardship.

CPOPC welcomes the younger generation to take part in the YoungElaeis Ambassador Program. The interesting journey begins today!
