Secretariat

The Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) was established on 21 November 2015, with its Secretariat becoming fully operational in mid-2017. Headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Council serves as an intergovernmental organization dedicated to advancing cooperation and collaboration among palm oil–producing nations.

The primary objective of the CPOPC is to promote, develop, and strengthen cooperation in the cultivation and sustainable development of the palm oil industry among its Member Countries. The Council also seeks to ensure that palm oil contributes to the long-term economic growth and social well-being of smallholders, who form the backbone of the industry.

The governance structure of the Council consists of three organs:

  • The Ministerial Council, which serves as the supreme decision-making body;
  • The Senior Officials Meeting, which provides policy recommendations and technical guidance; and
  • The Secretariat, which implements and coordinates the Council’s programmes and decisions.

The Secretariat is led by a Secretary General, supported by a Deputy Secretary General, a Director of Strategy and Policy, and a Director of Sustainability and Smallholders.

The Secretary General serves as the chief administrative officer, responsible for the day-to-day management and overall administration of the Secretariat, as well as for ensuring the effective execution of the mandates and directives of the Ministerial Council.
