Global Framework of Principles for Sustainable Palm Oil
CPOPC developed the Global Framework of Principles for Sustainable Palm Oil (GFP-SPO) in 2021. The framework emphasizes on development and promotion sustainable practices in the palm oil industry. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and showcases palm oil as a sustainably produced commodity, enhancing its global image and market acceptance.
The GFP-SPO encompasses seven Proposed Principles (PP):
1. Develop partnerships for sustainable development through transparency and collaboration.
2. Uphold peace, justice, and strong institutions through compliance with laws and regulations.
3. Invest in innovation and technology to drive the adoption of efficient practices.
4. Minimize environmental impact and conserve ecosystems through the efficient use of scarce natural resources.
5. Enhance workers' and local communities' well-being by improving living conditions and respecting their rights.
6. Ensure inclusiveness for smallholders and low-income consumers.
7. Commit to continuous improvement.
CPOPC updated the framework in 2024 to reflect the evolving dynamics of the global oils and fats industries. GFP-SPO framework also allow other vegetable oils to adopt the principles and tailor-made according to the industrial need. https://cpopc.net/gfp-spo/
