Lets Be #YoungElaeis Ambassador!!

The Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries organizes an ambassador program called #YoungElaeis. We have listed FAQ below for your reference:
1. What is Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC)?
CPOPC is an intergovernmental organization for palm oil producing countries that was established in 2015. The world largest palm oil producers, Indonesia and Malaysia, are the founding members and current members of the council along with Honduras. The council was established due to the awareness of the need mutual cooperation among palm oil producing nations
2. What is #YoungElaeis Ambassadors programme?
The #YoungElaeis programme is an event held by the CPOPC to gather young representatives across selected nations as young ambassadors to promote the sustainability values of palm oil. The programme targets youths ranging from those studying in high school to seniors within university and college. The programme is part of CPOPC 8th anniversary on 21 November 2023.
3. How many participants will be selected to join this programme?
The chosen will be selected into 25 finalists, internally by the committee
4. What is the prize and reward for the winner of #YoungElaeis programme?
The winners of #YoungElaeis programme will be awarded with project funding worth up to USD 26,000, with 4 selected winners will be invited to Indonesia and Malaysia to learn more about palm oil industry.
5. What is the purpose of this programme?
Although many of the products used in the daily life need palm oil in their production due to its versatility, palm oil industry has been discriminated by being accused on many cases including deforestation, force labor, and health issue. This creates a misleading narrative to the general public especially the youths that are unaware of this segregation issue.
Due to this issue, the purpose of #YoungElaeis programme is to gather young representatives as the young ambassadors to promote the sustainaibility values of palm oil and alter the current negative perception among public.
6. When and where will the #YoungElaeis programme take place?
The initial screening process to find the 25 finalists will be held from the first of July 2023 until the middle of September 2023. The programme will be held entirely in online
7. Who is eligible to participate in this programme?
There are several requirements that have to be met for the participant:
- Age between 17 – 30 years old
- Citizen of the CPOPC member (Indonesia, Malaysia, Honduras), Observer countries (Colombia, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, Thailand) or counsumer countries (India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UK and EU countries)
- A social media geek with minimum of 1,000 followers in one of social media platforms (Meta, Twitter, Youtube, TikTok, Blog, and Linkedin), preferable those that are focusing on the sustainability matters
- The social media account should have been active for at least 3 years
8. Are there any specific expectations and categories for the winners of this ambassador programme?
The participants are expected to be creative, attractive, and up-to-date with the information of current situation in the palm oil industry, either nationally or globally. The categories for the winners follow the 3 pillars of sustainability:
- Smallholder: This category focuses on the opportunities and the impact of smallholders' inclusion in the palm oil industry.
- Circular Economy: The circular economy of palm oil encompasses strategies and initiatives aimed at minimizing waste and promoting recycling in the palm oil production such as used cooking oils (UCO) to generate renewable energy like biomass. You can also provide content/activities of climate tech institutions (for example: start ups/ venture builder/ other digital marketplace/e-commerce) that manage circular economy of palm oil.
- Sustainable Palm Oil: This category explores the contribution of palm oil to advance social welfare of communities and employees and also to protect the environment and wildlife ecosystem.
9. How can I participate to this programme?
Simply fill your application through this Google form. If you are chosen then the committee will be in touch with you.
10. Any requirements to join this programme?
To join the programme, the participant should submit 3 submissions:
- A link of one of participant social media accounts
- A short video showcasing your interest and concern on the palm oil industry
- At least 2 referencers who have actively work together or support participant activities / programme / action.
All of the 3 submissions should be attached in Linktree and include the link in the Google Form
11. Regarding on referencer: Who are the eligible parties that can provide reference?
You may refer to 2 type of referencers:
- Professional / personal reference: anyone who work together with you or with your project professionally or anyone who knows you as a person in long term (this reference can be a career / personal mentor, personality coach / trainer, or leader / advisors of your organisation, or social media / digital content mentor)
- Academic reference: anyone who used to / is still become your lecturer / teacher / academic advisor, or your thesis / research supervisor
12. Regarding on submitting the Linktree: Are there any terms and conditions for the video submission?
- The participant may utilize footages and contents as a supplementary, but the main idea of the video should be made by the participant originally.
- The video shall not violate any laws or regulations, infringe upon the rights of others, contain offensive or harmful content, and engage in any form of illegal or unethical behavior.
- The video has to be in english
- When submitting the video, the participant agrees that the video will be used and circulated to the committee of the #YoungElaeis programme internally
Fail to comply the appointed terms and conditions will lead participant to be eliminated on the initial screening process
13. Will there be multiple rounds in the programme?
The programme will have at least 2 rounds:
- First round: Candidates will register themselves by submitting Google Form and Linktree complete with the required submissions within the due date. After this point, committee will go through all of the documents that are submitted by the candidates and will screen into 25 finalists
- Second round: The 25 finalists will go through several online consultation sessions that will be led by experts in the palm oil industry. This online consultation will help the finalists to find their “identified project”, implement it and conduct presentation to the jurors. Jurors will conduct the second stage of screening to find the 13 winners of #YoungElaeis programme
14. What is the “identified project”
It consists of several specific topics that will be utilized by the 25 finalists to present to the jurors. These topics will be informed later during the second round of the programme
