H.E. Dr. (H.C.) Ir. Airlangga Hartarto, M.B.A., M.M.T., currently serves as the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (CMEA) of the Republic of Indonesia, a position he has held since 2019 under the leadership of President Joko Widodo. In this capacity, he plays a pivotal role in shaping Indonesia’s economic policies, strengthening industrial competitiveness, and driving sustainable growth across strategic sectors.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Minister of Industry (2016–2019), where he was instrumental in promoting industrial innovation, enhancing downstream industries, and fostering public–private collaboration to accelerate national development.
Dr. (H.C.) Airlangga Hartarto holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Monash University, and a Master of Management Technology from the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Business School.
In recognition of his leadership and contributions to national development, he has received several honorary doctorates, including Doctor Honoris Causa in Development Policy from the Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management, South Korea and Doctor Honoris Causa in Sports Management and Sports Science from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Indonesia.
