10th International Planters Conference
The Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP), will be organising the 10th International Planters Conference on 12 - 14 June 2023 at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur, after a very successful ISP National Seminar in 2022.
With the opening of the borders, lifting of Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, global economic recovery and average palm oil prices, we are expecting overwhelming response from local and foreign participants. We are sure that this Conference will be bigger, better and more exciting than ever before. We are proud to announce that Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) has partnered with ISP in this Conference to present papers on promotion and marketing.
Oil palm is one of the major players in the agriculture sector at national and global economy. It has played a significant role in improving food security and meeting the demands for fuels and fibre. Malaysia and Indonesia contribute 85% of global palm oil production, and account for 20% of oils and fats production globally. The Russian and Ukraine conflict and the rising inflation has further strengthened importance of palm oil in food security.
Despite the significant role played by oil palm in world economy, it has been associated with deforestation, loss of biodiversity, climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, “No palm oil” labelled products and forced labour. At the local front, it is faced with issues of stagnant yield, severe labour shortage, mechanisation and automation challenges and rising cost of inputs.
Therefore, to address some of the local and global issues in palm oil industry, The Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) will be organising the 10th International Planters Conference 2023 (IPC 2023) with the theme “Ensuring the Resilience of the Palm Oil Industry in the 21st Century”. The Conference will be held on 12 - 14 June 2023 at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur. The Ministerial Address and official opening ceremony by YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Malaysia followed by a keynote address by a distinguished and prominent plantation leader Dato’ Carl Bek-Nielsen. Local and international speakers will highlight and address issues related to palm oil industry. The Conference features 4 modules covering Business Strategies, Innovation and Technology, Promotion and Marketing and ESG and Sustainability followed with a Panel Discussion titled “Plantation Management - The Way Forward”.
The issues include Plantation Management 4.0, Labour Economics, Mill Transformation, Mechanisation, Marketing, Palm Oil Perceptions, Food Security, UN SDG Goal 17, Forced Labour, EU Directive on Deforestation, Innovation and Technology and Indonesian Plantation Business.
With your support, we hope to bring together 1000 local and foreign participants and 45 exhibitors. This will give both local and international participants the strategic opportunity to interact and deliberate the many facets of the palm oil industry, especially the challenges in the 21st century. The Conference and exhibition outcomes among others are to build network among industry players and create opportunities through various platforms for exchange of ideas and thoughts.
We warmly invite you to the Conference and hope that you will join the industry leaders, planters, plantation companies and associations exhibitors, government officials, speakers and others at this not-to-be-missed event.
We bid you all a warm welcome.
